Meditation & Kadampa Buddhism in Barbados

Tara Kadampa Buddhist Centre – the first New Kadampa Tradition centre in the Caribbean – was established in 2007 by our founder Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, at the request of local Buddhist practitioners.
What we offer
The Centre offers classes/activities geared to different levels of interest, and its calendar includes practical teachings on Buddhist thought and meditation, daily chanted prayers (with silent meditation), day courses/ workshops, guided lunch-time meditations and other special events, such as blessing Empowerments.Everybody is welcome!
Although set in a busy area, Tara Centre provides a peaceful refuge where commuters, workers and visitors alike – of any faith or none – can escape the "hurry and worry" for a while, listen to Buddha’s teachings, browse in our Dharma Shop, chat with like-minded people, or just enjoy some inner stillness.
Where to find us
Tara Centre is located in Hastings, Christ Church, along the bustling South Coast. We are a short bus ride from Bridgetown, and just minutes away from the beach with its popular boardwalk.
We are the fourth building on the left from the Hastings Main (Coast) Road. The “Novel Tea Place” is on the corner of Hastings Main Road and Harts Gap. Mama Mia's Italian Restaurant and a Convenience Store mark the corner on the other side of Harts Gap, almost opposite to the Coconut Court Hotel. We have a prominent sign over the street. Our Centre occupies a quaint old Bajan-style house with with a wrap-around porch, a “wishfulfilling tree” at the gate, and a large backyard.
